Expect Joy - An Intergenerational Program

Untitled design (6).png

At Snowy Mountains Care & Early Learning Centre, we value community collaborations and partnership. We aim to embed meaningful community programs into our Educational Program & Practice.

We were proud to have launched Expect Joy, an intergenerational program on the 28th April 2023. The launch coincided with Global Intergenerational Week 2023 (24 - 28 April).

We facilitated a play based learning program for our Moondani Preschool (Friday) Children and the residents in the Berridale aged care facility, Snowy River Hostel.

Since Berridale has now closed we are urging the mature and aged care residents of the Jindabyne community to come and discuss ways we can collaborate and share your time at our centre and within the community.

If you are interested in sharing meaningful connections with your community and the children of Jindabyne, we welcome you to discuss options with our Director, Moira.

Studies have provided evidence on Intergenerational Programs that identifies sufficient improvement across all of the developmental domains for all participants. The program aims to bring back a quality of life improving mental and physical wellbeing for our elderly community. For the young participants it expands their views and understanding of the world, especially around diversity and inclusion. It also scaffolds the children to recognise that other communities and people exist outside of their world.
